PureData packages and documentation for Universities
This page is intended as a little how-to for universities to install PureData instead of M*x/MSP in their computer labs.
A few links
- First of all, get a decent version of Pd. This one is gonna work out-of-the-box and provide most widely used objects.
In the page http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html, download the latest "Pd-extended Test Releases". Currently, the latest one for MacOSX is http://idmi.poly.edu/pdlab/Pd-0.39.2-extended-test5.dmg
Don't be afraid of the word test. This version is much stable now.
- Follow the instructions in the package. You will need to copy a preferences file in your Library.
The documentation : http://puredata.org/docs/
A few very nice references : http://puredata.org/dev/pddp/PdUniversityCourse
GEM documentation : http://gem.iem.at/manual/
This was a very quick start. Read the doc to learn more.
